La Chamantera or loom weaver is a shadow puppet play that tells the story of a loom weaver woman and her creative process. While she's weaving she remembers her childhood, takes care of her daughter and keeps alive an old tradition. To be a chamantera and make ponchos it's a traditional trade of more than two centuries old in the central zone of Chile.

Chamanteras passed their trade from generation to generation and today in the midst of modern life this art is in danger of disappearing.
